Straight Time

A former convict, released from prison, finds himself slipping back into his criminal past after committing a brutal act against his former probation officer and now flees from the authorities.

Career criminal Max Dembo is released from prison after 6 years and wants to go straight, but struggles with the restrictions of his parole. He clashes with his parole officer Earl Frank, who is determined to keep Max in line. Despite the challenges, Max starts a new life, including a relationship with Jenny Mercer, a clerk at an employment agency.
