Ambitious journalist Johnny Barrett sets out to solve a murder in a lunatic asylum, witnessed only by three inmates who have refused to cooperate with the police. With the help of a psychiatrist and his reluctant girlfriend, Johnny feigns insanity to gain access to the asylum and interview the witnesses. However, as he digs deeper, he discovers that nothing is as it seems.
