A battle-hardened veteran, Klaus Muller, fights for his life on the Russian front until a German tank ace saves the day. Later, he's transferred to Normandy, where he reunites with his love, Klaudia, a field nurse, just before the Allied invasion. However, their happiness is short-lived as they're caught by the Gestapo while trying to rescue Klaudia's father, a French resistance worker. They escape from prison and join the fight against the Gestapo during the D-Day invasion, their paths crossing with Sgt. Roberts, who is fighting for his own survival.
