In 1993, South Korea, debt collector Doo-Seok, who appears tough but has a soft spot, is tasked with collecting debt from Myung-Ja. However, instead of paying, Myung-Ja hands over her young daughter Seung-Yi as collateral, as she is an illegal immigrant being deported from the country. This unexpected turn of events leaves Doo-Seok with the responsibility of caring for Seung-Yi.
