Two men, Witold and Fuchs, arrive at a guest house for a short stay, only to be greeted by a series of ominous signs, including a dead sparrow, a piece of wood, and strange markings. They are surrounded by an unsettling atmosphere, with the maid displaying a menacing presence and the young woman of the house captivating Witold's attention. However, she is already married to a respectable architect, leading Witold to question her morals.
