The documentary Ay Mariposa tells the story of three individuals in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas whose lives are affected by plans to build a US-Mexico border wall. Marianna Trevino Wright, a leader of wall resistance, faces violent threats and emotional struggles as she navigates changing border policies. Zulema Hernandez, a dedicated migrant worker and advocate, fights for justice and the future of the borderlands. Meanwhile, the butterfly, la mariposa, battles for survival in a rapidly disappearing habitat, with much of its remaining habitat directly in the path of the wall.
