The film tells the enigmatic story of Edward J. Kelty, a photographer who spent two decades capturing the magic of the circus. However, after finally settling his tab, he abruptly left the circus and relocated to Chicago, never to pick up a camera again.

Edward J. Kelty, a Manhattan banquet photographer, captured the spirit of the circus through his extraordinary photographs from the 1920s to the 1940s. He would follow the circus across the United States, preserving mesmerizing images of performers, including horse wranglers, acrobats, and sideshow attractions.
