A young boy named Max has a vivid imagination and throws tantrums when others don't comply with his demands. After a disagreement with his sister and her friends, and his mother's attention being diverted to her boyfriend, Max runs away from home, wearing his wolf costume. He escapes to an imaginary world, where he befriends wild beasts, including Carol, who share his temperamental nature.
