A group of young men, including the awkward Shinji Okajima, undergo a rigorous outdoor drill under the guidance of their teacher, Mr. Omura. Years later, Shinji is a married father of three, working in insurance. After protesting the firing of an older colleague, he loses his job, and he and his wife must navigate the challenges of their new circumstances.
