The environment has been devastated, with contaminated water and burned animals. Georges Laurent, his wife Anne, and their teenage children Eva and Ben escape to their countryside cabin, only to find it's been broken into and Georges is killed. The family is left to fend for themselves, seeking shelter and supplies from acquaintances who refuse to help.
