Despite being nearsighted, he becomes a renowned airplane designer, joining a Japanese company in 1927. The film follows his life, showcasing historical events like the 1923 earthquake, the Great Depression, and Japan's descent into war. Along the way, Jiro finds love with Nahoko and a lifelong friendship with Honjo.
