Smoke Signal background

Smoke Signal

A deserter is mistakenly identified, but it's later revealed that they are a valuable ally who helps the defenders of a besieged fort escape to safety through treacherous terrain and amidst relentless Indian attacks along a river.

A cavalry patrol returns to their besieged fort, only to find it under attack by Ute Indians. The reason behind the attack appears to be the recapture of a former Army deserter, Brett Halliday, who had joined the Utes in a previous war. However, Halliday's story raises questions about the true motives behind the Ute's actions. As the survivors, including a woman, try to escape down an uncharted river, Captain Harper and Halliday must put aside their differences to work together.
