Gene Autry, a singing star, is mistaken for an actual Texas Ranger sent to investigate trouble on a toll road. He discovers the local eye doctor, Doc Judson, is behind the trouble, trying to buy Jen's property with valuable mica deposits. With his friends, Gene gets the evidence needed to expose Judson and his associates to the real Rangers.
