Children of Fate: Life and Death in a Sicilian Family

A couple revisits a notorious Palermo slum, Cortile Cascino, 30 years after their fathers' initial visit to continue the story of the rag pickers and scavengers who call the area home.

In 1961, a documentary was shot in a Palermo slum, capturing the lives of rag pickers and scavengers. Thirty years later, the director's family returned to Sicily to continue the story of Angela and her family, intercutting black and white footage from the 1960s with color footage from the 1990s.
