Charly background

Charly

A revolutionary medical experiment has a profound impact on a young individual with a developmental disability, unexpectedly elevating their cognitive abilities to those of a certified intellectual giant.

Charly, a man with a cognitive disability, faces daily struggles in a modern world. Despite his efforts, he finds learning, reading, and writing challenging, and is often the target of cruel pranks at his job. However, his life takes a dramatic turn when he is enrolled in a clinical study, where he is given the same brain surgery as a mouse named Algernon, which has greatly increased the mouse's intelligence. As a result, Charly's cognitive abilities are also enhanced, and he becomes a genius. But as his newfound intelligence grows, so do the emotional and personal consequences, leading Charly to question the morality of the experiment and his newfound abilities.
