Traveling entertainer Marc Stevens becomes stranded in a remote wood in the Hautes Fagnes region of Liège, where he seeks shelter at a shuttered inn. The innkeeper, Mr. Bartel, offers him a room and promises to fix his van, but with unsettling conditions: Marc is forbidden from visiting the nearby village and must allow Bartel to search through his belongings. As the night wears on, Marc becomes trapped in a desperate struggle for survival and sanity.
