In the small town of Blue Gap, Arizona, three brothers form the only band in town, "Blue Gap Boy'z" from the rez. The youngest, James, a custodian at the local school, manages the band despite not being able to play instruments or sing. The other two brothers, Jessie and Jodie, are the driving force behind the struggling band. When they hear about an opportunity to audition for a German music producer in Phoenix, they embark on a journey from their small town to the big city. The brothers become caught up in the hype and are willing to do whatever it takes to win the competition, including "selling out" to gain an advantage.
