Bee Season

A family in Oakland, California appears to be a loving and supportive unit, but beneath the surface, tensions simmer. The father, a Religious Studies professor, has high expectations for his children, particularly his son Aaron, who idolizes him. However, his preteen daughter Eliza often feels overlooked. When Eliza excels in spelling bees, her father becomes obsessed with the connection between words and the universe, leaving Aaron feeling neglected. Meanwhile, the mother, a microbiologist who converted to Judaism, struggles to cope with an incident from her childhood. As the family navigates their differences, Eliza may hold the key to bringing them back together.
