The film is a fantasy adventure that explores the introduction of Buddhism in China. The story follows the Monkey King, who is reincarnated as the Joker after being cast out of heaven for seeking immortality. The Joker then becomes obsessed with two jealous women, and when one of them is near death, he travels back in time to try and save her.
