Mark Jonah, a drifter, is taken into custody by Nevada police after a car crash that kills Jerry Taggart, a hoodlum. Mark escapes and is later found by an eight-year-old blind girl named Nina, who leads him to a summer camp for blind children. The children, sensing Mark's gentleness, take him in and he becomes their Pied Piper figure.
